Canon have announced 2 new cameras into their Compact line up, the Canon Powershot S100 and the Canon Powershot SX40 HS.
Replacing the ever popular Powershot S95 the Powershot S100 is the most advanced Powershot S camera to date. A new F/2.0 Canon lens coupled with an updated HS system utilise the Canons highly advanced DIGIC 5 processor. Taking full advantage of the new speed the S100 now boasts up to 9.6 frames per second in multi-burst along with Full 1080 HD Video. This equates to a highly sophisticated compact camera that boasts the quality of the G series in a much smaller body. The S95 was regarded as one of the best compacts around when it came to low light photography and was highly regarded for its use underwater. The S100 builds upon the success of the S95 and is set to be another huge success upon it’s release.
Pricing TBC, but expect around £439.00
Canon have also announced the new Canon Powershot SX40 HS, the update to their super zoom SX30 IS. Packed full of engineering marvels the SX40 houses a huge 35x Optical zoom, complete with Canon’s trusty Image Stabilizer. With such a huge zoom IS is a must, preventing anti shake even when zoomed fully. This type of zoom range coupled with Canon’s HS system and new DIGIC 5 processor and you get a brilliant all round shooter. If you’re into sports or wildlife this will be a serious contender to the likes of the Sony HX100. The Canon Powershot SX40 provides near DSLR quality tucked into a much lighter, neater package that is easily taken where ever you go. As with all cameras under the HS badge low light image quality is expected to be high, as well as super fine Full 1080 HD video.
