Photokina takes place in Cologne, Germany, 18-23rd September 2012.
Rumours surrounding product launches at the show have been going for some time. Over the next few blog posts you’ll find out what could be revealed this month.
Fuji have already had 2 new cameras leak on the internet. The highly anticipated X-E1, a lower end X-Pro 1, looks to be a certain as does the premium compact XF1 (possibly XP1). These will launch along side a host of new X series lenses and a firmware upgrade for the X-Pro 1, the second since it’s launch.
Sony have already launched the Alpha NEX 5-R with it’s built in WiFi connectivity but rumours surround possible Photokina launch products. The Sony Alpha 99, a full frame DSLT camera, could be making a debut. Rumours of a full frame Alpha NEX camera have been played down recently due to Sony E-mount lens design and it is now rumoured a full frame video camera could make it’s way to the stage.
Nikon have two ageing cameras that could be due for a revamp in the Nikon D7000 and Nikon D300s. Could Photokina 2012 see the Nikon D400 and Nikon D600 launch? Only time will tell. The Nikon D600 has supposedly leaked a little while back whilst the Nikon D400 is looking like a post-Photokina, pre-Christmas, launch.
Canon could be launching two brand new EOS cameras to the market to complete their already ample line up. Rumoured are the Canon EOS 3D X and Canon EOS 7D Mark II. The EOS 7D launched way back 2009 and is still a great camera but the upgrade will be welcome. The Canon EOS 3D X will either be Canon’s entry into the high mega pixel (48mp) world or, fingers crossed, turn out to be an affordable full frame camera.
So there you have it. A quick round up of the Photokina Rumours 2012 that have the photography world on hold.
